| I learned a few days back that SHB are releasing a new cable, the Quintessence. It uses a thicker than previous single silver plated copper core, sourced from the States. I placed my (pre) order on Wednesday, and it arrived yesterday! Possibly a prototype, but who cares. It is housed in an all black sheath, with silver coloured plugs which are not as gripping as previously. they were tight buggers! Having had them in my system and burning in for over 24 hours, I can report that they are good, according to Wilf they still need more time, but to my ears, are a step up from my previous SHB's. Detail retrieval in particular, and, is it my imagination, but bass seems slightly cleaner. As of yet I have not sent Wilf payment as he has not actually told me how much they are, I hope that old thing about "If you have to ask you can't afford them" isn't apt here! Knowing Wilf, they will not be a silly price though. Simple verdict = another winner form Wilf! |

| Had them a few days now, playing almost continuously to burn them in (assuming you believe in that stuff) and they are certainly pleasing to my ears.
I have noticed an ability to pick out detail that I wasn't aware of before, bass, which I thought was good on my last SHB's is certainly as good as before, I suppose here I'm saying that I don't think theres that much of a difference, if any , so far. I say so far as Wilf has stressed that these definitely need more burn in before they are totally on song.
If you have never tried the brand, and are wanting some quality wires that are priced at the starter price of other "big brand" cable manufacturers, I can tell you they are certainly up with some of the best I have ever owned (sorry to bore you if you know I have previously had £600 Black Rhodium and £330 Chord Anthems!) |

| Had these now for acround 7 weeks, so I would say they are fully burnt in, and can happily report that to my ears they are as good as anything I have previously owned at any price, including TCI Cobra, Chord Chameleon/Chorus/Anthem, and Black Rhodium Oratorio @ £600.
For years I threw money at ic's and indeed speaker cable, I wish SHB had been around all that cash ago! |

| As you know, I'm an SHB convert. I have cables with Will's standard weave and thicker ones and I can hear no difference between the two. Go figure... |

1. It's a lot easier than building amps or CD players. 2. You don't need any technical approvals on cables. 3. There's actually some margin on them so they're worth doing.

| Top post, any dim wit can sell cables and put some nice marketing spin to make them attractive and try to mind boggle the innocent, now ask them to design an amp and you'll be greeted by a dumb expression. |

Richard, is your name on here just a pseudonym, or are you Richard from the HFC forum? Obviously if you claim to be the actual Mr B, you will need to prove it! |

| I needed longer ic's and as I am obviously delighted with this brand, I got some 1m jobbies, and the plugs seem better quality than my half m ones, whether or not that means they will sound any better, I don't know yet. |

| Yes hock, he is THE Richard from choice and he's a top man. Pitty STU has left the forum ! he was a shb expert. I think he converted every cable in his house to silver high breed. Still seeing as he's gone richard will certainly give you some good advice I'm sure. |

| Same here all my cables are shb now! Will is a good friend of mine and I can tell u the amount of time he puts into his cables for the price everyone gets it for is ludicrous! |

| Plumbed them in, and , assuming you are a "burn in" believer, I have a while to wait before they become on song.
As I mentioned before, the plugs seem a much better quality, now being gold plated, where as the half metre ones weren't.
Sounding fine even with only a few minutes on them, if they get better, bonus! |
