I didn't realize you could give posters a negative.....very tempting. It's a wonder I'm not at minus 250 by now.
When it comes to that ? brand there's recently been a claim made here on another thread that all amplifiers made by them have a 'house sound'. I disagree. Last night I heard an ancient 3020 integrated compared with a their 1320 preamp running into a 216 'THX' power amp. Chalk and cheese. The integrated gave a smoothing effect to nasty recordings, truncated image depth and ambience but overall was musical. The preamp/ power amp combination was far more 'electronic' sounding with greater depth and transient attack, bass control and tunefulness but, & to my ears, less musicality. Swings and slides really.

Fair point JSB !
Maybe I should have added the disclaimer 'Of the intergrated NAD Amps I have owned.......'
It only goes to show the subjective nature of posts based on each other disparate experience.
Having said that if you are determined to compare the extremes of their range........ Laughing

A house sound would come down to the designer, if that designer changes over the years the sound character will probably change as the designer is different.

Or as with Mr Sugano of Koestu cartridge fame, as age diminishes upper treble hearing sensitivity, their designs attempt to compensate?

That probably also explains why older gentlemen spend a considerable sum on highly priced audio while the younger generation don't. There is nothing like getting older, what age is it when your hearing starts deteriorating?

The level of discussion on this board has sadly fallen to an all time low, i'm saddened to see such intellectual questions being made in to jokes, shame on you all, call yourselves audiophiles and you sink to suck low levels?

Have you no shame?
