| Rega have announced details a new RP6 turntable. The RP6 features the new RB303 Tonearm, 16mm thick glass platter and redesigned TT PSU power supply. The plinth will be available in the same variety of gloss finishes as the outgoing P3/24 Turntable including Gloss Black, White, Red, Silver, Blue, Pink, Orange, Yellow and Green. The price is expected to be around £800. |

| Good question. If that quote is right it's a replacement for the 5.
Oddly enough, there's nothing on Rega's site about it, not even in the news section.
I am very much looking forward to this new deck. If it dfoes to the 5 what the RP3 did to the P3/24, it'll be a fantastic machine for the money. |

| Replacing the P5?
What's going on, they've gone from the P25 to this? |

| greg,
The P5 replaced the P25 some years back. Now the RP6 replaces the P5.

| I had a P25 and it was superb, my favourite of all the Rega designs, mine was rosenut, RB600, lovely it was, I'm not keen on that new look, doesn't look as good as the P25. |

| True, the P25 was pretty, as was the original P9. In many ways the P25 was their most successful offering in that it swung really well, something that Regas are not really renowned for - brilliant on timing but not necessarily capable of swinging that well. The P25 bucked this trend.
The P5 was a return to Rega form which meant it lost a bit of that swing. The RP3 swings like a bastard and so I am hoping for more of the same from the RP6 since the primary new technology is the brace which, though different in the RP6, is the same technology as in the RP3. Obviously this is conjecture but I am really hoping it's the case. |

| When it comes to their turntables I don't think is such a thing as a bad Rega turntable, I loved my original planer 3, then I went for the p25 and it was a big improvement, great decks. |

| Oh sure, I was just talking about the presentation, but they're all good and leave the competition in the shade until they get expensive where there's so much competition of different presentational styles that it's difficult to make such a sweeping generalisation. But at the lower end of the scale, they leave the Projects and Music Halls for dead in my opinion. |

| One presumes they made the decision to go with the better hub as the real benefit over the RP3 rather than a better arm. |

| I don't really see any upgrades besides a metal mini platter instead of the usual plastic one...what else is there? |
