| Rega's new Apollo-R uses the same Wolfson 8742 DAC as the company's standalone DAC. You can boost your digital audio still further by using the two products together with the Apollo-R acting as a transport; the result is even better sound quality, Rega claims. The Rega Apollo-R will be available in late November, priced £548 Not sure of the looks myself. |

| Well, for once, here's a product I would not want to lay eyes on on a daily basis, no matter how good it may sound. My one negative bling gig. |

| Oh dear, I hope it looks better in the flesh! The lift-up mechanism has a similar shape/design as the top of the range. It works well. |

| Rega entry level gear has always tended to be a bit cheap and tacky looking, it kinda reminds me of the original planet Cd player, it was ugly and very plasticity. I suppose sacrifices need to be made to get them on the market that rega manage to do considering it is all done in the UK, to get them on the market at the prices they do is some achievement. |

| The display looks like some thing from 1980 pocket calculator. |

Touche!
In the looks department, this looks worse than even the Far Eastern "creations". On the other hand, it may well prove to be the Ugly Duckling - we are talking about its looks, while its sound may well be, well, sublime. In my admittedly limited experience, Rega have never fallen below a certain standard, which in average terms, would be "solid" at the very worst. |

| The only thing that bothers me is the surround around the buttons. That looks like a prototype. The edges need to be clean. I think the display suffers in that shot from the angle. I'm not a fan of red of course. I prefer a calmer or cooler colour. I can't help but feel 'red light means danger'. |

| Maybe it has one of those plastic protection sheets on that just peels off to prevent it from getting scratches. |

| Come on people. The article the thread originates from clearly states:
The player shown in our pictures here (sitting with its siblings on a suitably compact Custom Designs rack, below) is a prototype - the full-production model will have superior fit/finish. |
