| Originally a British company but like most things now owned by the Chinese, I notice they got some shiny new products, a bit on the bling side for me, it must be all that gold, but here's a little look, pictures courtesy of myhighend |

| I remember a few bits that were left around in the 80's.
If u scrapped the gold off these and those bloody huge badges I think they would look better, dont like top sitting buttons on hifi either, awkward to accomadate. |

| Lovely sounding amplifiers! Early days, before I got the Audiolab 8000 A, I had one of these (model OA 20/2). About the size of a Cyrus amp. sounded excellent, with natural, warmish character that made listening to music a pleasure. Not a champion of 'accuracy', nevertheless it was one of those components you can listen to for hours no end. The much faster, 'matter of fact' sound of the Audiolab, won me over so, it was sold. |

I think, they expect the user to display this, right up on top of the rack Dan.
A bit of a statement design, I guess.. |

| Funny you've said this 'flatearther'! I remember reading somewhere, the designer of these amplifiers, after the UK company went 'under', got a job working for Thomas Silensen, the boss of .... you said it... Densen! It seems, he took with him the large golden knobs syndrome! |

| Those knobs on the Densen are Huge, I mean massive, I recall a guy brought around his Densen DM10 I think it was with these two huge gold knobs on the front, I don't know if his has get bent some how but they looked and moved in a slightly wonky fashion. I do think a good set of knobs I mean volume control is one very important aspect of an amplifier that sometimes gets over looked, some are just too small or to short, I have small hands some people with larger hands and fingers really must struggle because even to me I found some amplifiers controls and buttons just too small, these things are just as important for the user, I feel they should be easy to read, larger enough to press and be comfortable to move. I like the picture Arthur has showed, the new styling doesn't do it for it for me, just too bling. |

| The (very) large Densen brass or chrome knobs are easily damaged if one is not careful enough. The actual knobs are quite heavy and, if accidentally are rested upon or pushed sideways, can bend the long shaft that drive the pot at the rear of the amp. Designed as such to shorten the signal path as much as possible. (The photo above was taken immediately after I finished re capping the power supply ( the array of large blue electrolytics you see), courtesy of Densen who kindly provided the replacement caps, as part of their lifetime warranty of their products). I managed, after 11 years of ownership of this DM 10, not to bend them. In fairness, they're so imposing that you can't really ignore or damage by accident. I used to polish them regularly to a bright shine and, they did have a nicely balanced 'weight' when adjusting the volume. One of the best I ever used in an amplifier. This is one component I really regret selling... |

| They do produce a very transparent powerful sound, I only heard it briefly but I can hear it's upbeat transparency. Your right about those large knobs arthur, this guys one was definitely not true, he had to ship it back to Denmark a few times for some repairs so it looks like it took a few knocks along the way. |
