I'm not sure how NAD used to sell in the UK or where else for that matter but I view this news as a step in the right direction.

NAD is to radically overhaul the way it sells its range of hi-fi and home cinema products in the UK, in a bid to improve its customer service. In future, NAD's product line-up will only be sold through retailers and custom installers who have a NAD Sound Academy-certified member of staff.

Armour Home, which distributes NAD in the UK, will no longer supply NAD products to high street stores and online retailers known for heavy discounting.

While that may limit the number of discount deals, Armour says the new policy will provide better customer service.Customers will be invited to special in-store demonstrations and events where they can listen to a broad range of NAD products.

Called Fresh Start, the new strategy is due to be in place by the end of August, in time for NAD's 40th anniversary.

I can only see this as a positive thing, I really see the only way for the industry to survive is to prevent box shifters from discounting on line with heavy discounts.

Interesting - I can see us doing it again in that case. That said, NAD just doesn't have the cachet of Marantz and doesn't sell AV at all well here.

I've got a NAD 743 I think it is AV receiver and I really like it, it was never full of the toys you would find on a Onkyo, Yamaha or denon but it really sounds more than decent in AV mode. Saying that I think they should just stick to stereo as I read a few of their products were a bit problematic with hum and dodgy transports.

I do think it's a good move, I also think to help this hobby survive and be a benefit to all concerned is to clamp down on ebay sales. I know this thought wont go down to well but if a company wants its products to be showed in their true light I think following the likes of many now do not allow their products to be sold on ebay. Long term gain IMO.

I've never understood why Cambridge audio just stick to Richer sounds, they'd get more sales by going nationwide like they do in the rest of the world.

it may be that other shops wouldnt stock ca kit. as ca kit is very good for the money, they might have difficulty selling similar priced stuff, imo. my view of ebay is like a secondhand car dealer selling a brand new car! whats the point? wheres the kudos? is the warranty worth a light? quality stuff shouldnt be sold in such a way.virtual jumble sale.
