Hot news from the speaker maker as they to are now taking the route of selling direct, whos next I wonder? Mordaunt-Short is to begin selling its products online directly from its own website at www.mordaunt-short.com. The company has ended its European distribution partnership with Marantz, and from April 1st M-S products will also be available from Richer Sounds online and Richer Sounds' network of around 50 UK locations.

"Taking control of distribution in our home market is an important step forward for the Mordaunt-Short brand," says chief operating officer Peter Brown.

"Our team is thrilled by the potential this brings, allowing us to reinvest significantly in the development of new products."

Meanwhile, Boston Acoustics will become the preferred speaker partner for Marantz electronics from April 1st.

Things are changing more and more manufactures are now taking this route.

Good question.

Hopefully, this move will bring back the M-S of old. 35 years ago, every new model from them was eagerly expected, and usually worth the wait. Then, they somehow slipped off the radar, which I for one always felt was a pity. They may not have been very innovative, but they used to be a solid, dependable manufacturer.

Thats bexause Richer Sounds bought them along with Epos, fortunatly they didnt know what to do with Epos and Creek took over and sorted them out, with the first speaker being the M15 which I had and loved to bits.

Anyway back to Mordaunt Short I hope they do better now but whos to say that Richer Sounds doesnt still have them, or did they then they didnt and now they are somewhere else.

I used to have a set of 902's I think the standmounts when I was about 18, on the end of an Arcam Alpha 5 which I had upgraded to a 6 (its still in the cupboard actually) and an Arcam Delta 290 integrated and 290 power amp, I actually really enjoyed it back then.

Hmm - didn't know they had Marantz as their distribution arm for Europe. They've been in Richer ever since Richer bought the brand. It's an interesting development, but not really anything to worry about. As mentioned elsewhere, we haven't exactly been swamped with M-S must-haves in recent years.

many things, forum hype, 5 star reviews, new is better, many reasons.

I've learnt the best way is to hear for yourself.
