| In the weird world of the analogue LP the most significant tweak anyone can make ( apart from selling the wife, kids, house and car and buying a silly money LP rig) is to invest in a vacuum/liquid LP cleaning machine. Next best tweak belongs on the acoustics section of this forum - this is the treatment, or design from scratch, of your listening room. This is the tweak that is often the last resort as it triggers threats of divorce from all those tedious 'she who must be obeyed' creatures. There's a new kind of tweak starting to become available I'm all in favor of. Musical Fidelity now has an up-date/ modification service for all it's older models. http://www.musicalfidelity.com/tuning-information.asp I wish more audio manufacturers would offer a similar service. Maybe they're afraid such an offering would cut into their new equipment sales?

There's been a long, tedious and at times heated debate on the Stereophile forum about these doohickes. My take on it is if anyone is convinced they can hear an improvement and can afford the silly things let them have em. You have to wonder though if it's this kind of nonsense that has most of the sane world justifiably regarding audiophiles as lunatics.

| If these kinds of things were cheap then maybe more would be inclined to try them, but when astronomical prices are charged it's just plain silly, in the end we just give our personal opinion without having the chance to even try because of the price, but looking at those I'd think i'd pass as the right honourable gentleman says so rightly above. |

Utter lunacy IMHO..
This kind of products and publicity, have made me move from the 'audiophile' camp to the 'music lovers' one.
I really think, if one has to go to these lenthgs to enjoy music, one may need psycological support.. ........or, an exorcism! |

| I'd imagine if you had lot's of them they'd act as some kind of Helmholtz resonator, but they look too small to have any meaningful effect, I'm sure they most do something be it positive or negative by the fact that they resonate. |

| Well, in an extreme case, if one was to cover the entire walls of the listening room with these things, there could be an audible difference, But I suspect, with little metal cups everywhere, high frequency reflections will go wild. An interesting experiment for a science project but ... for listening to music, I'll choose simpler ways. |
