| OK, who yet has been fortunate the hear the new Rega Isis and Osiris, a few comments have been passed about it's looks, some thinking it looks quite modern, while other find it looks like something from battlestar galatica, but for the price Rega are asking it has to do the job on sonic grounds.
The i'll never own one, boo, i'd still like to hear the opinions of those who have and what the rest of the system was they heard it with? |

| having heard the new CD player. I think I will have to sell the wife.
I am a fan of the Rega sound in general, (two exceptions the carts, and the Mira) but that CD player is awsome. Just pure music, I heard it at a dealer demo, through Naim amps and B&W speakers. The 'competition' was from Class- Naim (Cd3 + psu and 555? with psu). Only there was no competition. Any musical genre played and Rega just let music flow, no Digital nasty, NO grain, everything just sounded superb. It also looks much, much better in the flesh than the photo's suggest. Superb build quality.
If the matching amp is in the same class then Rega have just re written the rule books on where they stand in the hi-fi chain, and will be on top tier.
I have no chance of owning a system that costs as much as something like a toyota avensis or Volvo V50, but for the first time I have heard something that makes me wish I could. |

| The naim is £8k ish I believe
How does it arrive at £6k, feck knows, but it appears to built from a lump of aluminium, as in hewn from solid. They must have spent a long time working on it, and I would assume that they have priced it on the expectation of very low volume.
I am not very good at putting sounds into words, when I bought my saturn it was at the old price, £1300 ish, and I tried a stack of CD players in the £1 to £2k priced band. I know that people claim that all you need spend is £500, and I had previously. The saturn just outshone anything else I tried. I am not the biggest fan a digital audio, but the saturn defeats that bias, and just plays music, it flows from the thing, see my review thread if you want to be bored.
The new one, just quite simple sniggers at the saturn from a great height. Anything the saturn can do, this thing does in its sleep, then wakes up and gets in the mood to play some music.
I will never be in the position to own one, but as I said before if the amp is in the same class, and I really can't see it not being, the pair into a set of speakers that do them justice would be a system to live with forever. Not B&W's for me, Harbeths maybe, The New A series spens, Neat if you want a tad more zap. just tune to room/taste.
It is genuinly the first time I have heard something that I have thought, thats it, that really is it, they have nailed how it should sound. |

| Is the Naim "only" 8K ? I had in my mind it was 15K.
It's funny how some things just sound so right, but it's a shame when something that produces the magic is way beyond reach, I mean 6K, just who, especially in this current climate has that kind of money? |

| a few people seem to salivating over it and what it sounds like when comparing it to the Naim models, some are claiming it's better than the 555, lucky for those that have the money available to be able to compare the two. |

You'd be surprised at the amount of people who've got it and will pay for it, really if you haven't got a really niche high end product that's a good little money earner expect to struggle trying to shift a lot of low to mid priced gear. |

The technology of players like the Rega, Meridian's 808.2 and Ayrer's latest, if not the glamorous cosmetics, will trickle down to cheaper players in a few years. Unlike analogue technology, digital technology becomes much cheaper once the research costs are amortized (is that the word?) and numbers produced increase sufficiently. Consider this. The quality of sound coming from todays' sensibly priced CD players would have cost you a fortune only 5 years ago. All that's required is that the human race doesn't destroy itself in the meantime and that's another story .. .. .. .. . . |
