| Joker, you're such a stirrer, you never miss a tick, do you?.. .. On a serious note though, given that Naim has made a point in manufacturing its products in England, this would be a very alarming situation ( to see their products 'cloned' by some far East ruffians..) |

| This unfortunately is the dark side of China, they have no copyright laws. Naim are not the first to suffer this problem Creek nearly went bust over it before, along with a few others, even now you get a lot of fakes, for example the Oyaide plugs, even here you get idiots who encourage it by selling cables using these plugs, I bet the Spanish Hacienda would love to know if the are providing legal invoices along with selling counterfeit goods.
A lot of cables come from HongKong, you see fake Audioquest, Kimber, VDH, there are always ways are telling genuine ones, but some silly sucker thinks just because it looks the same it is the same, I have fake Oyaide to show people and they are just a pile of junk, when you hold it, use it, you can see easily it's just a cheap plastic plug.
This is the problem of being successful and making a good product, some parasite will want to live of your ideas and R&D. |

| Well said Adam, and because of this, I've made myself a promise not to buy any of those products, irrespective of how tempting they look.
I would expect the audiophile community all over the World to be more vigilant, and avoid rewarding these cheats by buying their fakes. |

| xlo and cardas are also readily available on the counterfeit mark et, I spent a day once notifying ebay of as many fakes as I could find, they didnt do anything tho!
A mate of mine got some fake cardas from china and said how cheap he thought they were until I pointed out the obvious, when he got them he could see straight away they were not the real mc-coy but to the unsuspecting person who owns no cardas they are pretty convincing! |

| Not surprised Ebay did nothing about it.. They're only interested in increased selling (whatever comes their way) and getting their commission, I suspect.
It's up to the individual consumer, especially the devoted audio enthusiast, to ignore their fake products and also, alert others - just as 'flatearther' has done here. Thank God, the Internet through forums such as this, can be a great communication tool in which these b------s can be exposed.

| What I can't understand thought arthur is even though they are fake people knows this and yet still buy, purely they buy for the name or label not the product. |

| I know the Oyaide prices, for example the average price of an Oyaide plug is 90 euros each, on ebay you can buy 2 for 10 euros, they look exactly the same, but that's it, they are not made the same.
I think you would be in serious trouble for selling fake goods here, in HongKong you can, but in Europe you would find yourself on the wrong side of the law. |

| Someone give me a fake Oyaide c079 I think it is the other day and it is a bit flimsy and shabby inside, not very robust at all or well constructed by any means" |

| Fake goods are flooding into Europe Adam, whether they're clothing, watches (huge market) or HiFi. I've seen some of the fake watches and the good ones are remarkably good. In fact, nowadays some of them are called 'replicas' - i.e. it's a replica Rolex in that it's made as closely as possible to the Rolex as an homage, where in fact all they're doing is stealing the brand's recognition and ruining its reputation (because you never know if it's a real one or a fake one).
All Naim needs is for someone to get it right and that could hurt very badly. |

| Perhaps Naim should consider enclosing sensitive parts of their boards/circuits/ modules, in totally sealed enclosures that if tampered with, would self destruct.
UK made Audiolab 8000 CD players (early series) had such an enclosure. I remember trying to repair one myself, only to be told that only Audiolab authorized personnel were permitted to replace ( not repair) that module! |
